time for a real revolution

... in the sense of right life, right relation (whatever relations a self-styled hermit type must manage), right livelihood.

I use the icon on this post, the quatrefoil which looks like a carving from some cathedral cloister, to stand for the crucial values of seemliness and contemplation. A humble, gentle, quiet, yet firm attunement to deep guidance and insight from "that of God within," as the Quakers put it so beautifully.

It ain't easy. Hubris reigns supreme in the world today. Self-restraint and seemliness are probably way out of fashion, though I wouldn't really know.

Maybe they've always been out of fashion. Like moderation and modesty, they do carry that old-fashioned flavor of a time gone by.

But I've begun to understand that seemliness and contemplation carry deep fascination for me -- that they are a gateway to the right life and right livelihood I've been missing for decades.

So this is likely to be a major theme in upcoming posts. It's what I mean by the tagline, "the quiet revolution of one free spirit."

To me, at this time in my life, this seems like the only game worth playing anymore.
